Fast forward to 2004. A neighbour of mine who owned a mobile DJ business had double booked himself. He began scrambling to find another DJ to cover the overlapping events, but being July and prime wedding season, everyone else was booked. Knowing that I had a background in music and entertaining, he asked if I could help him out. Sure, I had been to weddings before and I knew the basics, but I had never really paid a whole lot of attention to what the DJ was doing. Without a lot of time for training, I set up some CD decks in my bedroom and got to work learning how to mix songs together, match the beat to transition the songs (beat match), and work the microphone.
