A unit is considered to be a glass of beer or wine, or it could also include one shot of hard liquor, such as scotch or vodka. Although alcohol can be a contributing factor to some kinds of cancer and liver disease, Red wine is thought to be a healthier variety, and is sometimes suggested by a doctor to help bolster the blood. Once again, it's a matter of moderation.
